Elaine and Julie run Hounds of Love from a home based salon in Whitley Bay, and it is deliberately different from the busy high-street groomers. There is no crowded waiting room and no production line. Your dog gets the whole appointment to themselves.
That calm, unhurried approach is exactly why so many owners of anxious and rescue dogs travel to them. With plenty of secure outdoor space, dogs can stretch their legs and unwind before and after their groom, so the whole visit feels like a treat rather than a chore.
From a full breed groom to a quick nail trim, every service is at your dog's own pace. Prices vary by breed, coat and size, so give Elaine or Julie a call for a quote.
A proper top-to-tail groom: bath, blow dry, clip or scissor to breed or your preference, ears, nails and finishing touches. Your dog leaves looking beautiful and smelling gorgeous.
A freshen-up between full grooms. A warm bath, blow dry and a neaten of the face, feet and sanitary areas to keep your dog comfortable and clean.
The traditional way to care for wire-coated breeds, removing dead hair by hand to keep the coat's texture and colour as it should be, done gently and patiently.
Puppies up to 16 weeks are groomed free of charge. A gentle first introduction to the salon so grooming feels calm and normal for the rest of their life.
Our favourite thingA quick, careful nail trim on its own or as part of a groom, keeping paws healthy and comfortable without the fuss.
It is just your dog in their appointment, with plenty of secure outdoor space to relax before and after. No crowded waiting room, no pressure.
Grooming should never be stressful. Everything about Hounds of Love is built around keeping your dog calm, from the one-to-one appointments to the secure garden they can potter around in.
Your dog is never forced into close contact with strangers. It is just them and the ladies for the whole appointment.
A safe, enclosed garden to relax in before and after grooming, so the visit feels like a day out.
A warm, homely salon in Whitley Bay rather than a clinical shop, the kind of place anxious dogs settle quickly.

A few of the lovely dogs who have visited the salon. Yours could be next on the table.

Our rescue doggos go for a joint appt and the ladies are so good with them. There's lots of secure outdoor space so when they're done they can be free outside. It's just them in their appt so no worries about being forced to be in close contact with other dogs and it's a really calm and positive experience for them. Added bonus they look beautiful and clean on pick up. Recommended, and cool name too!

These ladies are amazing! My dog has been super nervous at every other groomer we've tried but they are so fantastic at putting him at ease, and do a brilliant job. I'd give them more than 5 stars if I could!
